Intermediate Development Program
Our Intermediate Development Program is designed for students who are ready to take the next step in their theatre journey. Through a combination of rehearsal, performance, drama exercises, and individual coaching, students develop their confidence and foundational theatre skills while working together toward a fully staged production.
Designed for Students in Grades 6-9, this program balances performance experience with individual artistic growth, giving every student the opportunity to strengthen their skills, make new friends, and discover what they can do onstage.
Program Overview
Students will spend 10 weeks rehearsing our selected Fall 2026 play, Wishful Thinking, while participating in drama activities and exercises designed to develop their foundational performance skills.
The program culminates in a December Showcase, where students will perform both the full short play and an individual solo piece.
Students will work on:
-
Production: Students will rehearse and perform a complete 20-minute play, gaining practical experience working as part of an ensemble.
-
Individual Performance: Each student will develop and perform an individual solo piece, giving them an opportunity to explore their own performance style and build confidence independently.
-
Theatre Skills: Students will strengthen foundational skills including projection, characterization, physicality, stage presence, ensemble work, script analysis, and performance technique.
-
Collaboration: Through rehearsals and group exercises, students will learn how to communicate, collaborate, and contribute to a creative team.

Wishful Thinking - A Classroom Comedy Where Wishes Go Wrong
What happens when a group of students gets three wishes?
While studying The Monkey's Paw, a group of students discovers a rabbit's foot and decides to make three wishes of their own. As they argue over what to wish for, each wish comes true — but with a hilarious and unexpected twist. As the chaos unfolds, the students discover the same lesson as the story they're studying: changing fate can have surprising consequences.
Wishful Thinking is a fast-paced classroom comedy that gives students the opportunity to explore character, comedy, ensemble performance, and storytelling.
